Out of Order: Traffic Signal at Portola Avenue and Murrieta Boulevard

Traffic signal expected to be fixed Wednesday.

A traffic signal at the intersection of Portola Avenue and Murrieta Boulevard is expected to be fixed Wednesday, officials said.

The signal is undergoing an upgrade from signal to video detection. During the upgrade, city staff found the current controller cabinet in the signal is in poor condition. The city will replace it with a new one and the full upgrade is expected to be completed Wednesday, officials said.

As a result, the signal is operating under "flash" mode — red blinking lights. Remember, a blinking red signal calls for all motorists to stop at the intersection, proceed when safe and obey the right-of-way rules. The signal is expected to continue to be on flash mode during Wednesday's afternoon commute.
