Head of Parks District Earns National Certification

The highly regarded general manager is also vice president of a statewide parks society.

Livermore Area Recreation and Park District General Manager Tim Barry is now a Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP). The certification was issued by the National Certification Board (NCB) and National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).

To receive the certification Barry had to meet eligibility requirements including higher education and/or work experience, and the completion of a national exam. The exam covers general administration, programming and operations management.

Barry has been General Manager of LARPD for 10 years. In addition, he’s Vice President of the California Park & Recreation Society. He has a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration and a master’s degree in Public Administration.
