Motorcyclist Hurt in Crash on Vasco Road

Brentwood man's motorcycle goes off the road and hits a fire hydrant.

By Bay City News Service —
A motorcyclist suffered major injuries when he crashed into a fire
hydrant on Vasco Road near Livermore this afternoon, a California Highway
Patrol spokesman said.
The crash was reported at 1:13 p.m. near the Vasco Road Landfill
at 4001 N. Vasco Road in unincorporated Alameda County.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s from Brentwood, was traveling
north when, for an unknown reason, he went off the roadway and struck the
hydrant on the right shoulder, CHP Officer Steve Creel said.
The man ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. Emergency
crews responded and took him to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley,
Creel said.
Creel said investigators are trying to determine whether alcohol
played a role in the crash.

Hopefully the guy will survive, CHP went by here like an "angry hornet" on the way to the accident. Than there were nearly a half dozen more emergency vehicles.

hopefully he will survive but i doubt that he will be the last one i drive vasco every day and found that some of the motercycle riders on that road do not think the traffic laws are for them. they constantly pass on the double solid lines or on the right side on narrow shoulders, and speed limit means nothing so hopefully they will start riding more carefully!!!!!!

He is not in good shape, he's all busted up!! Apparently a car was illegally passing or making a u-turn and ended up in his lane so he had to swerve. IDIOTS OF VASCO!! Seriously, Vasco needs surveillance cameras. People are so damn careless.
william April 2, 2012 at 01:13 pm
VASCO road does not need any survillance cameras IT ONLY NEEDS PEOPLE DRIVING AND OBEYING THE LAWS AND NOT BEING STUPID
reggieqh1 April 2, 2012 at 01:45 pm
Vasco Needs something because too many people drive that Road like they own it. Too many people are hurt on that road because people want to drive @ 90 MPH & are agressive if they can't!
Local April 2, 2012 at 01:51 pm
@ William - Vasco needs something more than just your hope of people driving safely, even making it a double-fine zone hasn't stopped them!! Good luck on that hope of yours.

Vasco road has the sherrifs and the C.H.P.doing a very good job on that section of the road but without our input to the law enforcement agencies can only do so much when we see areas that can stand improvement we can communicate and these agencies respond within their schedule of their patrols I have seen an increase in the patrols but as good a job that they do there are always times that they are not there!

Yep, you're right, they're doing what they can. Too bad it's not enough. I used to commute Marsh Creek Road - Vasco Road to Livermore every morning from Clayton and it was a damn nightmare. Marsh Creek Road is probably worse than Vasco! People passing on blind curves CONSTANTLY. I had so many near head-on collisions because of stupid a-holes passing on curves! Almost every single morning. It was terrifying. Sometimes I had to veer off onto the gravel shoulder, sometimes just slam on my brakes and pray because there was no shoulder!!! Then you get to Vasco Road and it's the same crap only a faster speed limit and wider lanes. I saw CHP pretty often on Vasco, even got myself a speeding ticket about 6 years ago going 65. Learned my lesson! But most people haven't! It will take a lot more than a little police presence to calm Vasco Road...

He will survive. He is still in really bad shape, but fortunately will get better with time. Vasco DOES need something done, but also people need to be a lot more careful and patient!!!! There was nowhere he could go because of an idiot that was trying to pass illegally in oncoming traffic and just didn't see him. There are so many accidents that involve motorcycles vs cars because people in cars don't LOOK! And as to an earlier comment: Not all motorcyclists believe the rules don't apply to them, and are really good drivers. Most of the time (and this is coming from a lot of excellent sources) the problem is the motorcycle rider...it is the person in the car!

It isn't up to the gov. to help raise your kids. The stork didn't drop the kid off unexpectedly. IfRead More you can't afford kids then don't have them.

Wow, so quick to jump to conclusions and judge. Maybe T.G. BUYS the child's lunch. Every schoolRead More sells hot lunch every day. At the majority of our schools, more lunches are bought than given for free.
DeAnna Senft McDaid June 13, 2013 at 12:43 pm
The schools give us 2 options as parents. 1. Buying lunches on campus or 2. Send them with a lunch.Read More Clearly the author of this chose number 1 and the school was OUT leaving the child with NO 3rd option. Shame on that school.

A great issue! However, the rodeo is nothing but animal cruelty wrapped up as "tradition"Read More and "entertainment". Why would the animal's welfare become a concern now? Rodeo performers have been documented beating, kicking, and shocking normally docile cows and horses in chutes and holding pens. "Bucking broncos" and steers are provoked with electric prods, sharp sticks, caustic ointments, and the pinching "bucking" strap, which is what really makes them jump, they are not "wild" and "dangerous" . The cowboys earn points by spurring the bucking horse. I have seen them up close and many are bleeding. Calves, roped when running, have their necks snapped back by the lasso, often resulting in neck and back injuries, bruises, broken bones, and internal bleeding. After their short and painful "careers," animals in rodeos are sent to the slaughterhouse. Dr. C.G. Haber, a veterinarian who spent 30 years as a federal meat inspector, describes the animals discarded from rodeos for slaughter as being "so extensively bruised that the only areas in which the skin was attached [to the flesh] was the head, neck, leg, and belly. I have seen animals with six to eight ribs broken from the spine and, at times, puncturing the lungs. I have seen as much as 2 to 3 gallons of free blood accumulated under the detached skin." Every national animal protection organization opposes rodeos because of their inherent cruelty. Don't feel bad everyone, I used to love the rodeo too. Before I knew better...

Something to consider and not pushing it aside because I feel its unimportant, but what I'd love toRead More have access to is how the riders that were hurt are doing today. Two bull riders got gored, one in the back and he was down and out for a bit and then obviously not "okay" as he stumbled out of the arena and then another that got his leg hurt and he couldn't get himself over the gate on his own. Left saturday's Rodeo hoping they were okay and would love follow up if at all possible. Thanks!

Thank you! That is what we want to know too. We have had more power outages this week than in theRead More 20+ years total that we have lived in this house!
Lynn June 8, 2013 at 07:03 pm
It would be nice to know, indeed. When my husband called to report the outage the recording saidRead More there were no outages in our area, which was clearly incorrect.
AT June 9, 2013 at 06:00 pm
I got the same thing, no outages when I called. I requested to be contacted by PG&E to explainRead More the problem. No call for that but I did get a "survey" call about their automated system. We have also lived here for 20+ years and never had this many outages.
