Motorcyclist Breaks Arm Trying to Evade Police

Livermore man suffers fractured arm after crashing into SUV.

A Livermore man fractured his arm after crashing a motorcycle while trying to flee police, said Traci Rebiejo, public information officer.

Joshua Miller, 31, was seen by police Saturday evening riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed on Portola Avenue, near Rincon Avenue, Rebiejo said.

A patrol car officer did not initiate a pursuit but attempted to follow the speeding motorcyclist and sent a notice out to police.

Moments later another officer reported seeing Miller zipping along North Livermore Avenue heading north toward the Interstate 580 onramp.

It was estimated that Miller was riding about 75 mph, Rebiejo said.

Miller ran a red light and attempted to enter the westbound I-580 onramp when he crashed into an SUV, Rebiejo said.

The California Highway Patrol also responded to the collision.

Miller was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley. A passenger in the SUV suffered minor injuries, said CHP Officer Steve Creel.

It was also later determined Miller is wanted on a felony warrant for a stolen vehicle, police said.

He remains hospitalized and has not been arrested, police said. The collision is under investigation, Creel said.
