Garage Fire Contained

Firefighters extinguish an early-morning blaze on Lido Drive.

Here's a recap of a small fire contained by firefighters Thursday morning. Information provided by Joe Testa, battalion chief for the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department:

At 5:48 a.m. on September 1, 2011, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to the report of a garage fire in the 600 block of Lido Drive (near Concannon Boulevard). 

On the arrival of fire units, a small fire was found contained to stored materials in the garage. The fire was quickly extinguished. The fire did not spread into the house.

One adult was home at the time of the fire and had self-evacuated prior to fire department arrival. The homeowner/occupant, an elderly male, was found to be disoriented and possibly have been exposed to smoke. He was transported from the scene via ambulance as a precaution.

The fire may have been started accidentally, though the homeowner was unable to provide a clear indication of what actions led to the fire.

No firefighters were injured in this fire. It caused approximately $500 in damage.
