Driver Cuts Foot Off After Clipping It Against Wall

Police say man was driving with his foot outside car door when he clipped it against a wall.

A man driving with his foot outside a car completely severed it off when he clipped it against a wall, Sgt. John Hurd said.

At around 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, emergency crews were sent to a report of a solo-traffic collision at the intersection of Rutan Drive and Sonic Avenue, near East Airway Boulevard.

When officials arrived on scene, they located the crash and injured man inside a private lot of a storage facility on Rutan Drive.

The man was taken to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley for his injury, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Peters said.

Police continue to investigate the incident and it is unknown at this time why the man was driving with his foot outside the vehicle.
