Couple Linked to Fatal Apartment Explosion Plead Not Guilty

A Livermore couple on Thursday pleaded not guilty to murder and drug charges linked to a 2011 fatal apartment explosion, according to a report from the Contra Costa Times.

Evan Aviles, 22, and his girlfriend, Lexie Hutson, 23, were arrested last month on suspicion of murder and manufacturing of an illegal drug, hashish oil.

Officials said the illegal drug activity — reported May 21, 2011 — at Aviles' residence on Silver Oaks Way led to an apartment explosion, which critically injured Aviles, Hutson and .

Police said Lom, 35, was also involved in the dangerous drug activity. He succumbed to his wounds five days later.

Hutson and Aviles are being held in Santa Rita Jail in Dublin with no bail. They are scheduled to return to court on Aug. 21 for a pretrial hearing, according to the Times.
