His name is Joe Segrest. He lived and worked in Livermore and was extremely active and fit. He was also a kind soul who knew many and was loved by all who knew him. He recently battled Cancer and had some speech and eating impediments. To know Joe, is to love Joe.

I concur, Joe was a great person! I knew him for over 20 years.

Sorry to hear about this accident, but one question. To Diana. What makes it the drivers fault for driving too fast when it was the bike rider that failed to stop at the stop sign. Yes, maybe the bike riders brakes failed, but don't you think the driver is devastated too. I see way to many bike riders that don't stop at stop signs. Its just a tragedy waiting to happen. I couldn't imagine coming around that corner, expecting side traffic to be stopped and seeing a bike or car

B. Martin I am sure the driver was devastated, who wouldn't be? I just know I work off the Altamont Pass Road for over 25 years and very familiar with that corner where the accident occurred and there are many bikers from the lab that share the road. I have no answers. I just want to bring awareness to other drivers to take precaution in that area where this accident occurred, Caroll Rd/north Flynn.
