Bereaved Mother Says 'Nate's Corner - Stolen Again!'

Katie Strube says her son's memorial has been stolen for a second time

The memorial on the corner of Kara Place and Lomitas Avenue where my son took his last breath on May 8, 2012, provides me solace.

If you took the items, I would really appreciate it if you returned them. I work and so does my husband so we can afford to replace them, but it is very hurtful that this happened. I have made the memorial smaller over time so  as to try not to bother anyone.

If you are walking in the area and see the missing items (his picture, the lantern, the bracelet, and the dragonfly solar light) thrown along the road, please return them to the corner. Thank you.

Editor's note: This is the second the memorial has been stolen. In the summer of 2013, Strube posted an announcement that said the stone memorial had been taken. The stone was eventually replaced by another bereaved mother.

This is just awful. I feel so bad for the Strubes. Might have to swing buy the site and say a prayer. Might...I will.

Stay strong! The only way to fight this is by standing your ground. I wish the best to you and your family.

Is it on somebody else's property or the city property? Maybe they are moving it. I know the state will only allow a roadside memorial to stay up for a week or two then they take it away unless it is far enough off the road to be on private property.

It is on private property and I have permission from the owners to have it there. It is tasteful, small, and means a great deal to me. I am sure whoever took it does not know the pain of losing a child who is kind, brilliant, and full of promise. I hope they never do.

I would bet on kids who have no idea the hurt they are causing or the ramifications of their actions.
