Livermore PD Profiling

Hi. I think I've been / being profiled by LPD.

I work weird shifts and its not uncommon for me to come home late or early mornings. I make a significant amount of income (single family income for 5) and have 2 newer cars, however I choose to drive one of my older 1980's vehicles because I enjoy driving it in the daily grind. It is well maintained and does not draw unusual attention with fancy wheels or loud noises. I am not of typical profiled races, black or Hispanic, however I do have darker tones as I am originally from the Hawaiian Islands. I mind all traffic laws on the way home and can recite where and what the speed limits change to on my normal commute through 84 on the way home (65, 55, 50, 45, 35, 30 mph to my house) as I've been doing the same route for almost 20 years.

Three times in 2013, I have been pulled over by LPD for really ridiculous reasons all past the hours of 0200A on my way home from work. ..."match vehicle description", "erratic lane change" and the most recent, "stopping past a stop line". On all three stops, the officer took my information, ran me and my numbers, gave me my paperwork without citations. They all asked where I was coming from, what I was doing out so late, etc. I could tell they were just checking me out by their questions and mannerism...flash lighting the vehicle, asking me off questions and so on.

On the last incident, the officer was turning right out of 7-11 around 230A, he made a illegal u-turn in the street (4th) and followed me all the way to the Livermore high area. He stopped me at the second stop sign stating I crossed the stop line. Take a close look at that intersection, THERE IS NO STOP LINE. It is painted with a big STOP on the road, and I stopped on it. He sent me on my way and then made another illegal u-turn and headed back towards the 7-11 direction.

The last incident really bothers me. It is blatant. Has this happened to others?

My wife claims profiling and I am now leaning in the same direction. I'm all about keeping our community safe, but pulling over normal citizens in hopes of catching a bad guy is wrong. How about increasing your patrols instead of sitting at the Church on College, Dom's or the old Groth Bro's lot. Pay attention to erratic behavior and not law abiding citizens trying to get home after a 12 or 14 hour work day.
