One of Livermore's most famous residents died in his hometown on Monday.
Conrad Bain, 89, who was the father in the popular television series "Diff'rent Strokes" that ran from 1978-85, died of natural causes in Livermore, the Associated Press reports.
Bain played along side child actor Gary Coleman in the show, acting as his adoptive father in New York City. The family comedy tackled serious themes concerning race and class relations.
Before "Diff'rent Strokes," Bain played the conservative neighbor in the comedy "Maude" from 1972-78.
Bain also had a long career as a stage actor.
