A Realtor remembers 9-11

9-11 is always a day of reflection for me.  A great tragedy for our country.  When 9-11 occurred my children were young (my youngest had just turned 2) and so they will grow up without first hand knowledge of what the event meant to our country.  For me, it's the most impactful event of my life - a senseless act that ruined so many lives.  And yet it also makes me very proud to be an American.   So many acts of heroism, that day and future days.

People frequently ask me what I think will happen in the real estate market - have we hit a new peak, is a bubble on the way, or will prices continue to increase.  I always respond that it depends on things we can't predict, such as a 9-11 type event.  9-11 was very detrimental to real estate values - no one wanted to buy a home the next few months and inventory soared, temporarily resulting in lower prices.  But within a year or so the market fully recovered, leading to the beginning of the bubble around 2003.

I guess the lesson I take from 9-11 is that whatever happens, as a country we can bounce back stronger than ever.  As individuals of this great country, it is our responsibility to do the same.  Oh, and hug your loved ones.
