Granada High School Student Saves Child's Life

Jake Salinas helped perform CPR and chest compressions on a little girl.

Granada High School senior Jake Salinas was about to go on break when he was forced to make a critical decision.

A young girl was having a seizure and had agonal breathing, an abnormal pattern of breathing  characterized by gasping or labored breathing, said a release from the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program where Jake is currently enrolled in the Medical Occupations ROP course.

"Jake immediately ran to the child," the release said. "Jake and another co-worker, both trained in CPR, began chest compressions and rescue breathing until the paramedics arrived."

The young girl is now doing well and has fully recovered from the incident, the release said.

Jake was recognized for his heroic efforts on Sept. 25 by the TVROP.
