Sign-ups Underway for Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters’ Foundation 6th Annual Hook & Ladder Run

The event is limited to 1,500 runners and is expected to sell out.

Here’s a wonderful opportunity to race or stretch your legs, while enjoying the beautiful settings of the Wente Vineyards and the gorgeous Sycamore Grove Park, at the 6th Annual Hook & Ladder 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk, and Kids’ 1 Mile Fun Run, on Sunday morning, June 1. This very special event benefits the Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)3 that supports:  injured and fallen firefighters, Burn Foundation, and local charities in the Tri Valley.

“Our first five years have been tremendously successful,” says Matt Thau, firefighter and foundation director. “To keep this event safe and enjoyable for all, we need to limit entries to 1,500. Please keep in mind that when we reach 1,500 participants, we will close registration, so be sure to sign up early.”

The race will be headquartered at Wente Vineyards, 5050 Arroyo Road., Livermore.  Both 5K and 10K courses run through the Sycamore Grove Park and are very flat with only one hill on the 10K. The 5K run/walk is 50% paved and 50% dirt road and is stroller friendly.

The 10K run is 90% dirt road and 10% paved road. Strollers are not allowed in the 10K.

The Kids 1 Mile Fun Run (for ages 12 & under) will take place at Wente Vineyards at 9:45 a.m.  Finisher ribbons, ice cream, and fire prevention material for all kids.

No dogs on the courses, please.

Entry Fees:

Pre-registered 5K , $40 per runner (ages 18 and over); $30 5K (ages 17 and under)

10K events, $45 per runner (ages 18 and over); $40 10K (ages 17 & under)

Pre-registered Kids’ 1-Mile Fun Run (ages under 13), $15.00.

Event registration closes May 23 or when sold out. After this date, registration will only be available on race day.

All participants can pick up their race packet and T-shirt at Pleasanton Fleet Feet Sports, 234 Main Street, Ste. A, Pleasanton, on Friday, May 30 until Saturday, May 31 at noon.  Race packet and T-shirt can also be obtained at race-day check-in.

Fees include commemorative custom t-shirt, post race refreshments, finish-line expo area, big raffle, and award ceremony. The thanks to the participants, sponsors, and volunteers, first three years have been tremendously successful. To keep this event safe and enjoyable for all, the race must limit entries to 1,500.  If the race reaches 1,500-participant limit, race-day registration will not be available.

Awards:

*3 deep in each age group (M & F) 12 and under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ (Special prizes for top 3 Male and Female race winners 5K and 10K RUN)

*Top 20 Male and Female both 5K and 10K receive a “TOP TWENTY” technical tee shirt

*Special top 3 Firefighter overall awards both 5K and 10K.

Race-day registration and check-in will begin at 6:30 a.m., with the 5K and 10K beginning at 8:00 a.m. The Kids’ Fun Run will start around 9:30 a.m.
