A 5-year-old schnauzer named "Ogee" made quite an impression at the 138th Westminster Kennel Club Show Awards in New York City this week.

Ogee Saltus Ze Zahrabske, who has been competing in dog shows for several years, won "Best of Breed" honors on Tuesday.

According to the Westminster website, Ogee is owned by Carol Davis-Earle, Cornelia Cheng and Ellen and Brad Yamada.

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show website says the show is "America's second-longest continuously held sporting event, behind only the Kentucky Derby" and over 300,000 dogs have competed the 134 shows.

Sky, a wire fox terrier, won the Best in Show at this year's Westminster Kennel Club Show Awards, according to the Westminster Kennel Club Show Facebook page.

Libertus, would you put no blame of the people that: Discard, abuse, abandon and breed these dogs that fill up the humane society? Responsible pet owners are not just the folks that get dogs and cats from a shelter. You must believe there is only one way for most things...your way. Not too focused on liberty are you.

Breeding is what Hitler was attempting with humans. Terrible for humans. Why not dogs? Are we so much better? We breed other animals for better food. I'm so confused.

That was my point, Terry. The reason I used "canine eugenics". I guess Nick doesn't get it. I put plenty of blame on those that abuse the animals in shelters but knowing these animals need homes, why visit someone and pay money for an animal created for no purpose but to win awards and score points. It is jut sick.

Dogs will adopt and raise a human baby in the wild. Fact: Cats won't cuz they will eat the face off the lost human baby instead of care for them. Dogs rule. Fact: Bosco the dog was voted mayor of Sunol in the 1980's. No cat ever attained a high position except in drug testing. He he

You lost me now, Terry. Cats are great because they are nature's killing machines. They will stay with you because they really give a damn and not because they are codependent. If cats were the same size as dogs, well, there wouldn't be any dogs. Domestic animals and how we raise and care for them will speak volumes about us as a society. Sadly, dog beauty pageants and the Honey Boo Boo type people they attract do that as well.
