Bereaved Mother Replaces Memorial Stone for Boy Killed at Skate Park

A friend replaced the stone in memory of Nathan Strube

By Autumn Johnson

A memorial stone that had gone missing has been replaced, thanks to the kindness of a bereaved mother. Katie Strube, mother of Nathan Strube, who was killed in a skateboarding accident in 2012, posted an announcement on Patch on July 26 that said the memorial stone had been replaced.

Strube says her friend replaced the stone. Strube told Patch, via email:

"My friend, Resa Arnold, another bereaved mother from Livermore, purchased the replacement stone and angel. I met her through the Bereaved Mother's Network that I started earlier this year."

The stone was placed near the intersection of Lomitas Avenue and Kara Place where 13-year-old Nathan was killed on May 8, 2012 after colliding with a truck while on his skateboard.

The new stone reads, "You will never be forgotten, we pledge to you today, a hallowed place within our hearts, is where you'll always stay."
