CAN YOU DEFEND YOURSELF?

I'm not asking if you have taken Karate or if you work out at your local MMA gym.  I'm asking if you can defend yourself.

Don't let your ego take charge just yet.  There are lots of people who can really take care of business, but only when the attack is choreographed.  I have seen so many demonstrations where the attacker waits, waits, and waits for the defender to execute a technique.

Recently watched a video online of a tournament where a Kung-Fu practitioner walked into a "MASS ATTACK".  Multiple attackers came at him, punching, kicking, grabbing, while he discharged each of them.  The problem was that they had to stall while he finished the previous attacker and turned to see them coming.  This is totally unrealistic.

It's fun to act out a make-believe martial arts sequence!  But there is absolutely no real-world value.  I think it is more important to be able to handle a violent attacker, and then if you want to memorize a choreographed routine, knock yourself out.  The bottom line is this...

Why are you training?  If it's just for fun, exercise, and discipline, then you can't go wrong.  Pick any school with an open door.  But if you are looking for a way to actually protect yourself and your loved-ones when you are faced with a violent criminal bent on causing you bodily harm (or worse), then you need to have some realistic training.

Applied Fighter was created for just this purpose.  You will not bounce into a martial arts stance, analyze the type of attack, and select the perfect technique from your vast martial repertoire.  That's because like any normal person who is taken by surprise, you will be dealing with fear, panic, tension, hesitation, and a number of other "disadvantages" when you are targeted.

Applied Fighter training seeks to understand your individual natural reactions in order to use them as a launch pad for defensive tactics.  When you know how you react under stress, friction, and fear, you can determine the true starting point for your personal defense.  With that knowledge of self, you will work on simple and natural movements that help you transition from reflex to fighting tactics.  This is where you learn to manipulate and overcome a violent attacker.

You don't need to become a martial arts master.  You have within you a set of fast, reliable, and automatic attributes that are well suited for self-defense.  Forget the choreographed techniques of the common martial arts school.  Awaken your inner warrior.

Applied Fighter founder and chief instructor, Richard Moore, will be teaching these concepts in a 3 session course presented by Community Education at Las Positas College on Wednesdays, October 9, 16, 23 from 6-8pm.

Don't miss it!  You can defend yourself!
