Tis the Season to Save! Live More, Save More

The holidays are upon us and Live More, Save More is here to provide great tips so that we don't go overboard this holiday season. Often because of family, guests, parties, or other reasons, we tend to see a spike in our energy use. Here are some ways to reduce it:

 1. Use LED Christmas lights, if you don't already. They save much more energy than the older brands. A plus is that they also come in a better variety of colors!
2. Leaving the Christmas lights all on may not be necessary. This is, of course, at the preference of you, but one tip I learned from my grandma is to leave it on until about bedtime, and then unplug them. And, as the holidays approach, leaving the lights on longer still gets people in the spirit. 3. Did you see how cold it was this morning?! Before running to the heater, try to find simple ways of keeping your house warm. Perhaps it could be an insulation issue or cold air from beneath doorways/window panes. Use the sun to warm your home. A nice throw not only keeps you warm as well, but you can adjust to your own personal temperature needs.
 4. For heating up those leftovers, use a microwave instead of an oven. Not only will it be faster to warm it up, it'll also prevent you accidentally overcooking a delicious meal!
5. Try to watch tv together as a family in one central room. Not only will it save energy instead of multiple t.v.'s going on, but it's a great way to bond together during the holidays-especially with relatives visiting.

I hope you enjoy these tips and continue to read our blog. We'll definitely have some more rolling out this month! Like our blog, visit www.livemoresavemore.org to join our free program, and also visit us on Facebook!
