Information from Alameda County Sheriff's Office

On Friday, Oct. 25, first responders from throughout the state and across the nation will arrive in the Bay Area to attend the largest first responder exercise in the United States. The two-day event, hosted by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office, will test the physical and mental skills of the participating first responders.

Urban Shield will incorporate key elements of real-world emergencies and major critical incidents.  This sustained response exercise will start Saturday morning and last 48 consecutive hours.

Urban Shield is designed to incorporate levels of stress, anxiety and physical exhaustion. Urban Shield will allow participating agencies to implement the National Incident Management System and the National Response Plan as required by the Federal Government for major incidents and natural disasters.
