A Livermore resident suffered burns on his hand when he tried to put out a fire that he accidentally started Thursday afternoon. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department arrived and extinguished the blaze. There were no other injuries.
According to Battalion Chief Jack Neiman-Kimel the fire started in the side yard of a home, “The cause of the fire appears to be slag from a soldering project the homeowner was doing. It appears it fell from the table and lit the dry grass underneath on fire.”

When firefighters arrived, the fire was lapping up against both homes. It had spread into the attic of one home but was put out before much damage could be done. “Both houses were saved from heavy damage. The damage was mainly to the side yard and the contents of each side yard,” including a boat, according to Neiman-Kimel.
The fire was on Bridgeport Circle at Broadmoor Street in the Springtown area.
