Community Mourns Death of Livermore High School Student

Livermore High School students and the 4H community are mourning the loss of 17-year-old Aaron Jennings, who died last week. News of Jennings' death spread quickly via social media and the community has come together to help support each other and the Jennings family. The cause of Jennings' death has not been released.

The school district offered counselors yesterday at the Livermore High School Career Center for grieving students.

Jennings was a member of the FFA and was one of the 2013 Livermore Junior Rodeo Champions for Senior Boys chute dogging (steer wrestling), according to rodeo officials. Jennings also won at the Rowell Ranch Junior Rodeo in 2012.

According to a July 7 Facebook post on the Livermore High School Cowboy Nation Facebook page, the Livermore Valley Unified School District's Superintendant announced Jennings' passing: 

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that LHS student and active Future Farmers of America (FFA) member Aaron Jennings passed away unexpectedly this weekend. Our hearts and prayers go out to his surviving parents, siblings, family and friends. 

In order to provide support to students and staff during this difficult time, the District has assembled a team of psychologists who will be available for drop-in counseling in the LHS Career Center from 8 am -1 pm on Monday, July 8th. Hours will be extended based on need. Handouts will be provided for parents to support their adolescents through this time of sorrow and grieving, and additional counseling referral information will be on hand.
