Granada High School Gives Disney Dollars for 2-Year-Old with Brain Cancer

Delaney Newton is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Delaney Newton, 2 years old, was admitted to the hospital on Sept. 9 and doctors told her parents, Janice and Merlin Newton that she had a brain cancer the next day.

On Sept. 12, Delaney underwent 12-hours of surgery to remove the tumor, which doctors confirmed was cancerous and on Monday, Oct. 7 the young girl began chemotherapy.

Since sharing with the Livermore community, residents, organizations, businesses and schools have rallied for the Newton family.

Granada High School is currently fundraising for the Newton family through its "Disney Dollars for Delaney" efforts.

From Travis Newton, Delaney's uncle:

For those of you who don't know Merlin, myself, and Cameron all attended Granada High School. This week I wanted to share this touching fundraiser PE Teacher Toni Templeman is doing at Granada with the amazing school.

They are collecting money for Disney Dollars for Delaney and her family to go to Disneyland once this battle is over. Delaney went there for her 2nd birthday and can't wait for the day when she can wait to return. We hope this is a year or so from now.

It's simply amazing what Granada is doing and can't wait to share the results with everyone.

The next community fundraising event will be held at Sauced BBQ & Spirits is on Nov. 13, 4pm
