Heirloom Tomato Week at Wente Vineyards
Wente Vineyards, located in the heart of the Livermore Valley wine country, is excited to offer an exclusive Heirloom Tomato Week menu, available only from September 16 through September 22 at The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards. Executive Chef Matt Greco has created a fantastic menu highlighting Wente Vineyards’ own homegrown heirloom tomatoes, sourced directly behind The Restaurant in their half-acre garden. In collaboration with Master Gardener Diane Dovholuk, the special tomato menu will be available for lunch and dinner alongside The Restaurant’s a la carte dishes.
“The weather in Livermore is the perfect climate for tomatoes to grow,” comments Chef Matt Greco. “They require a handful of warm summer days and plenty of sunlight – these conditions provide The Restaurant with a plethora of tomato varietals that can grow over seven feet tall”.
The Garden at Wente Vineyards is not only sustainable, and fully-organic—it is located a tomato’s throw away from The Restaurant. Its proximity allows Chef Greco and his culinary team to serve meals that incorporate only the freshest herbs and produce year-round. Chef Greco and Master Gardener Dovholuk are committed to ensuring Wente Vineyards’ garden is maintained to grow the best seasonal ingredients possible.
