Man Arrested After Failing to Register as Sex Offender

Justin Dumas was arrested Tuesday for violating his annual sexual offender registration requirements.

Here's information provided by the Livermore Police Department:

On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, Detectives from the Livermore Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Justin Dumas for violating his annual sexual offender registration requirements. Dumas was convicted in 1999 for 286 (c) (2) PC – Sodomy by force. As a result of his conviction, Dumas, 39, is required to register annually as a convicted sex offender, per California Penal Code Section 290.

LPD’s Investigation Unit, along with a Crime Analyst, are responsible for conducting routine checks on convicted sex offenders. The registration checks are designed to ensure sex offenders are in compliance with their requirements.

After reviewing Dumas’ registration activity, detectives determined that he had failed to comply with his annual registration requirement. As a result, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Dumas’ arrest. On Tuesday, May 7, 2013, Dumas was arrested on his outstanding warrant without incident after turning himself in at the Livermore Police Department. Dumas was transported to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
