I was born and raised in San Francisco's Excelsior and Crocker Amazon Districts, the eldest of five, and the only girl.  After eight years of Catholic school and the remainder of my schooling in public schools, I started my career working as a secretary for a chemical company.  Realizing I was worth more than my pay in the private sector, I started my career working in municipal government.  Married young, had two wonderful kids (a daughter and a son) and have lived in the Bay Area and South Lake Tahoe. We have six wonderful grandkids - three boys and three girls ranging in age from 18 to 7.

Growing a little restless, I divorced my first husband after 16.5 years while living in South Lake Tahoe and met the love of my life in the middle of my divorce on a blind date at Stateline on May 3, 1985.  We fell in love instantly and married exactly a year to the date that we met.

After having been in the public sector all my career working for several Bay Area cities, as well as 10 years for the City of South Lake Tahoe, and retiring after 14 years working for a special district, I opened the first White Rabbit in Gardnerville, Nevada, in February 2004, while still working full time.  When I decided to retire in December 2004, I closed that shoppe in March 2005 and opened White Rabbit Boutique in April 2005 in downtown Martinez.

Our first location was at 531 Main and we moved next door when we purchased the building that we are in.  We have been open now for six years downtown and it has been an experience.

I was the founding members of the Downtown Retailers Focus Group whose main goal is to bring business downtown and to raise funds for some Martinez non-profits.

White Rabbit Boutique was featured in a national magazine along with only four other businesses in the USA and we are pretty proud of that.  WRB also won the "Best Place to Find a Unique Gift" with the Contra Costa Times.

White Rabbit Boutique was the first Martinez business to be involved with the 3/50 Project (an international organization promoting people shopping at the little brickand mortar mom and pop businesses).  The premise is to pick three local businesses that you do not want to close and spend an aggregate $50 per month to keep them open -- thus the 3/50 Project.

Written up in the SF Chronicle, SF Examiner, Souvenirs and Gifts Magazine, and MartinezPatch.com, we are proud of the fact that people come from all over to sample our unique and diverse merchandise which also includes Recovery Medallions for AA and NA as well as literature, jewelry, and clothing for the recovery folks.  Where can you find recovery items, tie-dyes, Tibetan Prayer Wheels, Singing Bowls, Rosaries, Star of David, Buddha, Ganesha, Pendulums, Wicca Items, Crystals, Crystal Healing Wands, Incense, Oils, Rain Sticks, Prayer Flags, Skull Decor, Hookahs, Gifts, Jewelry, Accessories, and Clothing in one place?  You can find that and more at White Rabbit Boutique.

My husband and I also own and operate a construction drilling business and we have lived in Pleasant Hill, just over the Martinez border, since October 1986, but we feel like Martinez is our true home. We love the Martinez community and mostly all of our shopping and dining dollars are spent in Martinez.

Please stop in and visit with us when you are downtown.
