another helpful thing in both sides learning to "share the road" would be if cyclists…Read More didn't ride side by side, leaving one of the cyclists extremely near if not over the bike lane. I cycle And drive, but I don't think some cyclists are courteous when they insist on having the privilege of visiting with their friend while risking their life and causing drivers to be even more cautious than necessary.

I run on the road and against traffic so that I can see YOU! I don't have blind faith that you will…Read More stop for me or even share the road. I take responsibility for my actions and don't dart into traffic, run through stop signs, and I'd appreciate some courtesy. Share and take turns like you live here!

It's sad, kids out for summer vacation would like to stay home and maybe sleep in, while parents go…Read More to work. I can't even leave my teenager at home in this day and age. I would like to tell her just don't answer the door, wait for the answering machine to here who is calling, leave windows closed and don't cook on the stove (gas), but I can't even leave her home. These idiots that break into peoples homes should put all that energy into getting a real job!!!!

I think you could still leave your teen home. Tell her to yell, "Dad, someone's at the…Read More door." or have a recording of a dog barking.
I went to a presentation by a Fremont cop who lives in our neighborhood, and he said people come here from Oakland and do burglaries. I guess there's nothing left to steal in Oakland, or everybody has a pitbull. And he said they don't want to come in your house when you're home.

Just wanted to share a comment from an out-of-town visitor who emailed us after witnessing this…Read More accident:
"Yesterday when I was on my in to Oakland to bring a car to my daughter my wife & I were driving right next to that person and saw them run over a 4’X4” board that was out in the middle of the third lane. In horror we watched as this person ran over the board and saw they were able to get the bikes front tire back down to the ground but the board had flipped up the back tire in the air and this person did all they could to hang on while the bike swerved with just the front tire down on the road at about 65 miles an hour. At the last second I watched this person finally get flipped off the bike landing on the ground in front of a truck that was right behind them and then run this person over. At that point my wife and I were in shock and couldn’t believe what we saw and wanted to stop but we knew we would have caused a larger accident with all the cars behind us. A few seconds later I looked back in my rear view mirror and for a ¼ mile or so watched the motorcycle still riding on the road with no one on it and then finally started swerving and rolled over stopping all the traffic.
......So I’m trying to let you know that the person on the bike was one of the few persons I watched yesterday driving normal and want someone to know that this accident wasn’t this persons fault. Since this has past my wife and I have had numerous night mares recalling the images we watched and we can only pray that the persons family members know that this person did all they could to hang on and that it wasn’t the motorcycles fault for the accident. I’d sure like the folks in that area know the fact concerning this persons death."

It was strange sitting at the parade in dense smoke and watching fire trucks and fire personnel in the parade and no one seemed to notice.

This is just heartbreaking. I'm firmly convinced that motorcycles and tiny cars and even, to some…Read More extent, convertibles are just too dangerous to drive in even if they get great gas mileage.
This is one of the reasons people will continue to drive SUV's and trucks and larger, heavier cars. To protect themselves from this exact type of situation, so, when you see a large, gas guzzling SUV know that it is by choice that they are being driven and preferred. I speak from experience as I was in a bad accident and I WANT that steel wrapped around me and I don't care how much it costs for gas/insurance etc. Take the bus or BART or CalTrain if you want to save the environment.

My Quiet Court was hit also on Friday May 31, between 11pm and 6am June 1, by a person sleeping in…Read More the ivy on the Hospital property. 2 families left their cars unlocked (my fault I guess??? but doesn't make me deserving of it.) and a person took items from both cars. Reusable grocery bags from my car were used to carry off my 12-can box of soda and a hat that belonged to my neighbor. Cash from my glove box was swiped too. What else we are not sure of but these three items were found in that ivy. I noticed that a person was in the ivy last week as my kids and I saw a backpack and a skateboard in there. We left it be and I said to my young ones, "this person probably has no home so leave it be at least they are out of the rain." It was raining that week. Now, that person has violated us personally. I did not report as it was only soda and a bag. How many others out there leaving their cars unlocked don't even realize they have been hit. Sometimes they leave it like it looked before they rummaged through things. Now my neighborhood is LOCKING UP and LOOKING IN THE IVY DAILY. We would like the Hospital's security person to check on this area often and to pay for closing up the entrances to these behind the wall hideaways.
