I'd certainly qualify. I'm opposed to the bill. I'm against the bill. I'd rather the State of…Read More California reduce taxes, get rid of ridiculous regulation and allow businesses to be created and to flourish. I'd rather the State of California shed about half of its employees and stop the rest from driving up the cost of living with overly-high wages.

Notice that the number of collisions has been steadily dropping over the last few years due to the…Read More efforts of Livermore's award-winning traffic-safety program. Livermore was awarded the CHP Commissioner's Traffic Safety Award two years in a row. No other city has ever done that. Our child safety program has been best in the State for six years. You cannot argue with results like that. When will you be posting the Patch stats for the other Tri-Valley cities?

Paulette- Any given day, I see cyclists breeze right through the 4-way stop @ College/Arroyo/South…Read More L. The only exception is families when riding together. When anyone blatantly disregards safety, drivers and cyclists, I have NO problem honking or confronting them. Why would I deserve a ticket? I'm not the one breaking the law and putting others in jeopardy. There is no hate, Paulette. Maybe folks can use a smidgen common sense when on the road? Food for thought.

Christian- I agree w/ you as well. My husband & son are always out riding their bikes together…Read More (while I jog behind) and they follow the rules of the road. That's all I'm getting at.

another helpful thing in both sides learning to "share the road" would be if cyclists…Read More didn't ride side by side, leaving one of the cyclists extremely near if not over the bike lane. I cycle And drive, but I don't think some cyclists are courteous when they insist on having the privilege of visiting with their friend while risking their life and causing drivers to be even more cautious than necessary.

Every time I go in there, they don't have what I need, so, I'm not surprised to hear this. We'd try…Read More Orchard first and then, end up finding what we needed at Home Depot. I just stopped going to Orchard and always find what I need at Home Depot. They're kind and helpful and know how to do inventory and stock many other choices of products. I just prefer them overall. Sad to see Orchard go, but that's just how it is. Depot wins out every time and don't even get me started on Lowes....what a dump that place is.

It's up to the students and their parents (or sadly, sometimes just the students) to work with their…Read More teachers and counselors to prepare themselves for college. The plans, help and guidance is there, readily available. Tutoring is available free of charge. Just like with medical care, you have to be your own advocate, you can't blame others because you didn't take the time to find out what was required and what resources are available. My son just finished his sophomore year at LHS, and we have had nothing but positive experiences with the teachers and staff. He is on track to attend a 4 year college, but even if he chooses not to he will not be able to say he's "not prepared". There are too many students and parents who wait for everything to be done for them. Charter schools/vouchers for Livermore are not the answer....parents and students need to step it up themselves.

"It's important to bear in mind I'm being called a traitor by men like former vice president…Read More Dick Cheney. This is a man who gave us the warrantless wiretapping scheme as a kind of atrocity warm-up on the way to deceitfully engineering a conflict that has killed over 4,400 and maimed nearly 32,000 Americans, as well as leaving over 100,000 Iraqis dead. Being called a traitor by Dick Cheney is the highest honor you can give an American." Edward Snowden

Without whistle blowers we would have a totally controlling government. I suppose those who are so…Read More concerned with treason would also hang Jefferson, Washington, Adams et al. Cheney, Bush, Ashcroft, Holder, Obama etc. are the real traitors here. I love my country, and will protect her from her government.

Could be a scam. Drowning victims often have a second boat waiting secretly to escape. Then leave…Read More park in trunk of car and start a new life under a new identity. Life insurance will payoff benefits to his family even if a body is not found if witnesses support drowning story and a Judge issues a death certificate. Several trails leave park where a waiting car could be parked. Drowned bodies do float up to lake surface a few days after drowning because bacteria gas builds up in dead body. Body slowly inflates like a huge skin bag and rises to surface in a warm water lake like del valle. Small fish nibble on it and scavenger birds circle it and peck at the dead flesh. Unless body is caught under water on submerged branches it will surface.

It's sad, kids out for summer vacation would like to stay home and maybe sleep in, while parents go…Read More to work. I can't even leave my teenager at home in this day and age. I would like to tell her just don't answer the door, wait for the answering machine to here who is calling, leave windows closed and don't cook on the stove (gas), but I can't even leave her home. These idiots that break into peoples homes should put all that energy into getting a real job!!!!
Becky June 18, 2013 at 01:57 pm
I think you could still leave your teen home. Tell her to yell, "Dad, someone's at the…Read More door." or have a recording of a dog barking.
I went to a presentation by a Fremont cop who lives in our neighborhood, and he said people come here from Oakland and do burglaries. I guess there's nothing left to steal in Oakland, or everybody has a pitbull. And he said they don't want to come in your house when you're home.

Good points Sharon. As a mother of 5 daughters and now 2 grandchildren, latest to Rylee who just…Read More spent 8 days in the Nicu, there is alot of cautions to take with your newborns.
There are also these awesome monitors to buy at Walmart, Target, Babies are US that monitor not only noises from your newborn but movement. So if your baby does not have respirations for 20 seconds a alarm goes off.
My daughter got this for Rylee who is coming home today we HOPE!! as a precaution as she did have a few episodes of forgetting to catch her next breath. Even though she caught herself we are going to stay safe with the monitor.
She was born 5 weeks early and just had this little glitch that has not happened again :) Every parent can afford one of these monitors that range in price from 55 to 117 dollars depending on how many out of room alert boxes you want.
As you also say Sharon, so many babies are left to fall down in between couch cushions, rocking chairs, and cribs full of "stuff". Its just not needed, just the nice clean sheets in the crib or bassinet.

Doris - thank you for remembering us dads. As a proud father, I appreciate it.

Okay, for those of you that do not get it, you have a host of people out there walking around with…Read More Ferrets, Possums, Cockatoos, and dogs that are not service animals. You also have a host of business owners who do not understand this horribly written set of laws that are beyond confusing. These people are, consequently, forced to accept anyone and everyone who walks in trying to pass that critter off as a service animal. I've seen this happen way too much. The federal law forbids business owners from asking for a dog's credentials. But it does not forbid the State of California from requiring the dog be tagged. No other animal may be a service animal except a trained miniature horse, and those cannot be forced on anyone. Only service dogs. So, for those of you who don't understand the line in the law concerning tags: that's the point. A service animal is only a service animal if it is a dog with a tag identifying it as such issued by the State or County. You are not required to let anything else into your establishment. Get it? Got it? Good... I don't know what part of the blog was unclear on this point...
