<p>Emma C. Smith Elementary is named after Livermore's first regular school teacher. The educator joined the staff of Livermore Grammar School in 1878, taught for 41 years and retired in 1919. This is one of two schools in the district to have an API score of 900 or higher. The school was originally built in 1965, and was completely renovated and rebuilt in 2004.</p> <p>The campus has special programs focused on special education, research, speech, adaptive physical education, occupational therapy, character education, after school science, art and Spanish, among other programs.
