West Coast Fury U-10 Ranked No. 1 in NorCal

West Coast Fury took the U-10 Nor Cal Premier championship of the 2013 Spring Cross Regional Playoffs June 8 and 9. Fury came out of nowhere entering the playoffs as the #6 seed and then won the final in dramatic fashion scoring a “Golden Goal” in double overtime.

The 1-0 championship victory over FC Milpitas (At the time #4 in the State Cup seeding) capped a remarkable weekend that saw Fury beat the playoffs 3-2 and 1 seeds respectively to claim the crown! Fury opened the weekend with a 2-1 win over West Valley Magic (at the time #1 in the State Cup seeding). Goals went to Laura Gonzales and Kelena Brongiel.

Fury followed that with a thrilling 1-0 victory over Placer United in the semifinals (At the time #6 in the State cup seeding) as Alyssa Garza netted the game winner with less than 10 minutes remaining.

In the final, Kelena Brongiel scored the “Golden Goal” game winner a minute-and-a-half into double overtime as the sideline exploded with excitement. Every member of the Fury team played a major role over the weekend, but special recognition should be given to Gracie Alfonzo who was a rock in the Fury defense!

West Coast Fury is now the #1 seed in all of Northern California as they head to State Cup in the Fall. It's the first time the team has ever been ranked #1.
