Granada High's baseball team has already completed one of the most remarkable high school baseball seasons in the area ever.

The Matadors won 23 of their 24 regular season games. In those 24 games, they have given up 23 runs. They won the East Bay Athletic League and are ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 4 in the nation by MaxPreps.

But they aren't satisfied.

They want a section championship and they start the playoffs at home against Deer Valley on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

"These guys set a goal of winning a section championship from the beginning," Granada High coach Corrigan Willis said. "Step one was, obviously, win each game and then to win EBAL and now its to win the section. But we're taking it one game at a time and that's Friday. Hopefully we win that game and they we'll worry about the next game."

Granada needs to win three games to win the section championship, with the final coming on either May 31 or June 1.
