De La Salle, Granada, San Ramon Valley High Grab Cross Country Titles

The boys and girls NCS championships were held in Hayward. Next up is the state championships this weekend.

De La Salle's boys team and Granada High's girls squad won the NCS Division I cross country titles this past weekend.

San Ramon Valley High's boys team won the Division II crown while the school's girls team placed second.

The three-mile regional championship races were held Saturday at Hayward High School. Next up is the state cross country championships being held this Saturday in Fresno.

In the boys' North Coast Section Division I race, De La Salle's team won the title with a low score of 45. They were led by senior Evan Molineux, who finished second overall with a time of 15:42. Sophomore Luke Williams finished fourth.

In second place was Amador Valley High with a score of 87. Monte Vista was fourth with 118 points and Granada finished fifth with 119.

In the girls' race, Granada grabbed the Division I title with a score of 60. Senior Carina Novell finished third overall with a time of 18:16 while junior Maryann Gong was right behind her in fourth.

Amador Valley was a close second, finishing with 65 points. Junior Jena Pianin won the race with a time of 17:41.

Logan High finished third with 102 points, Monte Vista was fourth with 163 and Livermore High was fifth with 169.

In Division II, San Ramon Valley High ran away with the boys' title by scoring 34 points. Their top five runners finished first, fourth, fifth, ninth and 15th. Senior Parker Deuel won the race with a time of 15:05.

Maria Carrillo of Santa Rosa was a distant second with 99 points. Dougherty Valley finished fourth with 149 points.

In the Division II girls race, San Ramon Valley High finished second behind Maria Carrillo with 89 points. They were led by freshman Christine Bayliss, who won the race with a time of 17:47. She defeated the second place finisher by 33 seconds.

Clayton Valley High finished fourth with 90 points.

In the Division III boys race, Campolindo High captured the championship with 63 points.

Las Lomas High finished sixth with 183 points while Northgate High came in 11th with 280 points.

Northgate junior Danny Stalters, who won his league race, came in ninth with a time of 15:30.

In the Division III girls race, Campolindo easily won with a low score of 26. Their runners finished first, second, fifth, sixth and 12th.

Las Lomas came in third with 112 while Northgate was 10th with 270.
