Cal High Boys Soccer Shuts Out Granada High, 6-0

No. 7 California High defeats Granada High School with balanced scoring and tight defense.

The California High boys soccer team continue their undefeated season after cruising to a 6-0 victory over Granada High on Tuesday night.

The Grizzlies dominated the match on both ends of the field with balanced scoring and stingy defense.

For the entire game, Cal allowed only five shots on goal while overwhelming Granada with 14 attempts on goal. Cal's six goals were scored by six different players.

After a dominating first half with goals by Duke Driggs (17th), Jonathan Massimino (30th) and Eric Asari (37th), the Grizzlies continued their hot streak with a quick goal by Nathan Grixti less than a minute into the second half. Goals by Brandon Brown (60th) and Mikhil Chemburkar (75th) finished out the Grizzlies attack.

Granada High's offense picked up in the second half with a close header from a corner kick, but goalie Jake Lepere quickly punched it out.

The two teams met a month ago in the championship match of the 2011 Winter Classic Tournament. California won 4-0.

The No. 7 ranked California High (10-0-2) will play Amador Valley next while Granada High (9-3-2) will play Monte Vista.
