Students Video Chat With NASA Astronauts Onboard International Space Station

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District team up for NASA In-Flight education program.

Students video chatted with astronauts onboard the International Space Station and also held a Q&A session.

After submitting an application to NASA’s education program, Livermore’s Junction Avenue School was selected to host an in-flight education downlink, similar to a video conference, with space station crew members.

Former astronaut Tammy Jernigan, now working at LLNL, also hosted the program at the school.

In addition, the lab presented a "Fun with Science" show with hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations that explain science principles and the states of matter.
