School Trustees to Deny Proposed Charter School

The Tri-Valley Learning Corporation's plan to build another charter school in town will likely be denied by the on Tuesday, according to the board of education's published agenda.

If the likely rejection takes place, it will become the corporation's second failed bid in recent months to get a local school district to approve a new charter campus.

The corporation appealed Dublin Unified's decision to the Alameda County Board of Education. County trustees are scheduled to vote on the petition at its Tuesday board meeting.

Livermore's board of education plans to deny the citing the petition:

  • does not contain the required signatures;
  • fails to provide comprehensive descriptions of 9 of the 16 legally required elements of the charter;
  • and petitioners are demonstrably unlikely to successfully implement the program described in the petition
