National History Day on Display at Mendenhall Middle School

Students will be displaying projects five months in the making.

Information submitted by the school district:

Mendenhall Middle School presents National History Day Display Night on Feb. 12. Students in seventh and eighth grade will participate by displaying their projects in response to this year’s theme “Rights and Responsibilities in History."

Students have been working on these projects for five months. Through individual research and analysis of primary sources, students are developing the critical thinking skills required by the nation’s new Common Core standards. You will see exhibits, websites, documentaries and performances, all in response to the theme.

Some Mendenhall students will compete later in the month for the opportunity to represent Mendenhall at Alameda County's History Day competition held at the Oakland Museum in March, and a select few will progress to the State competition in Riverside at the end of April.
