Three Livermore middle school students placed in the 2013 California State History Day competition held April 26-28 in Sacramento.

More than one-thousand students from grades 5-12 displayed research projects on this year's National History Day theme, Turning Points in History.

Students competed individually and in teams in the elementary, junior and senior divisions. There were five project categories: museum exhibits, documentary films, websites, dramatic performances and historical papers.

Local students qualified for the state competition by competing at the Alameda County History Day event on February 23 in Oakland.
