Livermore High Schools Ranked Among Best in Nation

City's two public high schools earn silver medals in U.S. News and World Report's annual ranking of high schools.

Livermore's high schools are among the best high schools in the country, according to rankings released Tuesday. 

Granada High was ranked No. 270 in the state and No. 1,196 in the national rankings, making it one of 1,750 schools nationwide to qualify for a silver medal by U.S. News and World Report in its 2013 list of the nation's best public high schools.

With a national ranking of 1,421 and a state ranking of 331, Livermore High School also earned a silver medal.

The rankings were calculated by looking at student performance on standardized tests, evaluating how well schools educated black, Hispanic and poor students, and by how effectively they prepared graduates for college.
