Go Fish! Arroyo Seco Goes Hands-On With Biology Lab

Students at Arroyo Seco Elementary School are promised an outdoor biology lesson today when the East Bay Regional Park District presents its "Mobile Fish Exhibit."

Each grade level will participate, and the hands-on lessons of fish and their environs will coordinate with what students have studied in science labs so far this year, administrators said.

Kindergarteners through second-graders will see what makes a fish a fish and explore the biology of fish, their lifecycles and adaptations.

The older grades, three through five, will learn about food chains, watersheds and keeping a clean environment.

The interactive programs will be set up on the school playground and are coordinated by the event's lead teacher Connie Ormond.

The park district offers the educational outreach programs for free to public schools in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
