Las Positas College to Present 21st Annual Commencement Ceremony

Las Positas College will hold its 21st Annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 28, at 10 a.m. in the Physical Education Complex. Tickets are required; all graduates must participate in a rehearsal beginning at 8 a.m. Immediately following the ceremony will be a reception for graduates and their guests, sponsored by the Associated Students of Las Positas College.

 More than 900 degrees or certificates will be conferred this year; about 250 graduates are expected to attend the commencement ceremony. 

Commencement speakers include: Interim President Guy Lease, Ed.D.; Chancellor Joel L. Kinnamon, Ed.D.; Valedictorian Nicole Murman; Academic Senate President Sarah Thompson; Associated Student Body Vice-President Takeo Hiraki; Classified Senate President Sharon Gach; and President of the Board of Trustees Barbara F. Mertes, Ph.D.

Jeff Manchester, Las Positas College Foundation Board of Directors Chairman, will be honored with the Friend of the College Award. Manchester, a retired executive of Sandia National Laboratories, is responsible for managing substantial financial support for the College through the Foundation.
