About this workshop-

Visual artists work usually work alone, one activity that brings artists together is to draw or paint a model who has been hired to pose.  The 1 to 20 minute poses by the model are typical for figure drawing groups throughout the Bay Area.  These  short poses develop an artist's discernment for composition, their hand-eye coordination, and serves as a vehicle for artistic growth.   These are foundation skills to being a visual artist, even if the artist doesn't do portraits or figures to exhibit.    Working with a professional nude model, Carolyn Lord will present a systematic series of lessons in drawing and painting the figure, with emphasis on composition, proportion, light and shadow.  The students will work with Nu-pastel or Conte in the morning and with oil paints in the afternoon.

Following graduation she established her career as a Plein Air painter and continued her interest in Figure Drawing through UCLA Extension Classes.
