Education Fundraiser to Feature Student Performers

Livermore Valley Education Foundation aims to raise $50,000 at second annual Reach for the Stars! A Showcase of the Arts for the Arts!

The Livermore Valley Education Foundation and are excited to present the second annual Reach for the Stars! A Showcase of the Arts for the Arts! on Sunday, April 15, 2 p.m., at the in Livermore. This dynamic student arts showcase and fund raiser features stage performances and visual arts shows by students in second through twelfth grades who are enrolled in arts programs in the .
Tickets are now on sale for Reach for the Stars! at the Bankhead Theater box office, by phone at 925-373-6100, or online at www.mylvpac.org. General admission seating is available for $25/ticket. Student tickets are available for $12.50/ticket with the purchase of a general admission ticket.

The Livermore Valley Education Foundation aims to raise $50,000 at this event to add to the organization’s overall fund raising efforts of its Straight A’s Campaign for the Arts, benefiting arts education programs in the LVJUSD. The LVEF board of directors is pleased to welcome back students and teachers at its second annual production of Reach for the Stars! An all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, LVEF raises essential funds to retain endangered programs in academics, arts, and athletics in the LVJUSD. The arts showcase also gives the community at large a window into local schools’ rich diversity of music, drama, dance, and visual arts programs. The performance also raises awareness for the significant funding challenges facing Livermore’s school district during difficult economic times state-wide.

Generous support by Wells Fargo as “Cosmos Presenting” Sponsor and by Wente Family Estates as “Nebula” Sponsor, along with donations made by other local businesses and community members, is helping the LVEF to reach its overall annual goal of raising $100,000 to support fifth-grade elementary music and other arts education programs in the district. Both Wells Fargo and have returned as major sponsors of the event in its second year. The event’s master of Ceremonies is DJ Mark Davis from KKIQ 101.7 who will entertain students and audience alike as he hosts an eclectic mix of music ensembles, choral performances, and drama productions.

Schools are once again unifying across the district to partner with LVEF in support of programs for the 2012-2013 school year. Over the last six months, district administrators, principals, and teachers have collaborated with hundreds of students in preparation for stage performances and visual art displays.

Parent/Teacher/Student Associations and Booster Clubs are also teaming up again for the event with financial donations and in-kind contributions slated to provide broad, district-wide support for arts education programs. Every school in the district has stepped up to the plate to participate and will be represented in either the showcase performance or visual arts show.

As part of its commitment to provide support for arts education, to the school district for LVJUSD music education during the 2011-2012 school year. This sizable donation assisted the district for the second year in a row in making elementary school music education available to all fifth grade students.

Founded in 1991, the Livermore Valley Education Foundation’s mission is to restore and enhance academic and extracurricular programs within the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. LVEF is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization run by a dedicated local board of directors. In the last seven years, LVEF has provided over $1.7 million in financial support to the LVJUSD. Now in its third year, the LVEF Straight A's Campaign aims to raise $300,000 each year to support programs in academics, arts, and athletics offered LVJUSD schools.
