Isabel Avenue/State Route 84 Widening to Begin Monday

Officials announce construction of Isabel Avenue/State Route 84 widening project — Concannon to Jack London boulevards — set to start Monday.

Here's information provided by the :

To further improve regional traffic flow through Livermore, Caltrans is widening SR 84 increasing the highway capacity. These efforts would encourage commuters to stay within the State highway system as opposed to using local City streets as by-pass routes. The Stanley-Isabel Connector Ramp will also be widened as part of Caltrans’ widening project. Construction activities affecting the connector ramp are anticipated to begin the week of June 18th.

During the 1st stage of construction, northbound traffic will be shifted over to the southbound lanes. There will be one northbound lane as opposed to the existing 2 northbound lanes, therefore delays are expected. Both existing southbound lanes will be maintained. The traffic signal detection system for northbound Connector Ramp at Stanley Blvd. will be temporarily set to recall (approximately 5 days) until the new detection loops are in place. Eastbound and westbound Stanley Blvd detection system will not be affected. Caltrans will install changeable message signs to inform motorists in advance of the construction activities.
