Groundbreaking Thursday for I-580 Construction
No pain, no gain? The pain has already begun.
Written by Beatrice Karnes
There is absolutely no doubt that something needs to be done about congestion on I-580. A multi-pronged approach has been devised, including mass transit and improvements to the interstate.
A new phase of highway construction is already underway with barricades in place, lane shifts and warning signs. An official groundbreaking for the project will be held Thursday morning at 10:00, 1660 Freisman Rd.

The project will include construction of a westbound HOV lane from the Greenville Road overcrossing in Livermore to the San Ramon/Foothill Road overcrossing in Dublin/Pleasanton, an eastbound auxiliary lane, and overall improvements.
The project is scheduled for completion in fall 2014.
