Community Meeting About Possible July 4th Event

LIVERMORE — The Livermore Area Recreation and Park District is hosting a community meeting to discuss possibilities for holding a community Fourth of July Celebration in 2012. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Robert Livermore Community Center, 4444 East Ave.

The 2011 Fourth of July fireworks were canceled due to budget shortfalls for both the City of Livermore and LARPD. While the budget picture has not improved significantly for either agency, this meeting will be held to see if interested citizens from the community can put the money, resources and organization together to bring the fireworks back in 2012 and in a sustainable way for each year thereafter.

Citizens interested in working on an event for 2012 and beyond are invited to attend. For more information, please call LARPD at 925-373-5700.
