City Seeking Applicants for Beautification Committee

Applications are due at the City Clerk's Office no later than April 18, 2014.

Information submitted by City of Livermore—

The City of Livermore is seeking applicants for the City's Beautification Committee. One of the City's nine advisory bodies, the Beautification Committee is comprised of seven Livermore residents charged with the mission of preserving the City's habitat and natural beauty. The Committee reviews projects and advises the City Council on beautification issues encompassing parks, roadsides, medians, city gateways and standards for landscape maintenance.

The Committee also works on public outreach projects. One such project, Arbor Day, held this past Thursday, was celebrated by visiting 14 Livermore schools and distributing 1,203 redwood seedlings to elementary school students.

Upcoming projects for the Committee include the reviewing applications for the Annual Appearance Awards, recognizing projects and residences enhancing Livermore's visual image and economic vitality.

"The Committee rewards its residents for their hard work in keeping with Livermore's standards by presenting them with a Beautification Appearance Award," said Jennifer Nelson, Beautification Committee chair. Applications for the Appearance Awards are due July 31, 2014.

Advisory Body applications are always welcome. Applicants are required to attend a meeting of the Advisory Body for which they have applied prior to their interview.

The City Council Sub-Committee for Advisory Bodies has tentatively scheduled April 30, 2014 for interviews. Completed applications for interview sessions are due to the City Clerk's Office no later than April 18, 2014.

The Beautification Committee meets on the first Wednesday of every month.
