The shops are coming.
City Council members Monday approved the project, eight retail buildings to be constructed over 540,000 square feet off El Charro Road near the golf course.
The shopping center, formerly known as Prime Outlets Livermore Valley, is scheduled to break ground in April. About 130 stores are expected to be open in fall 2013.
A food court also will be built as part of the project.
The development is expected to generate at least $1 million of salex tax revenue annually for the city.
The decision came prior to the council and redevelopment agency also moving forward with a for downtown.
Both projects are expected to help change the face of Livermore by attracting more out-of-town visitors.
