Woman Identified in Fiery Crash on I-580/Altamont Pass

Regina Lepak of Tracy died Sunday after her SUV plunged several hundred feet off embankment.

The Alameda County coroner's bureau identified a Tracy woman who was in eastern Alameda County on Sunday.

A brown SUV driven by 43-year-old Regina Lepak was seen bearing off the right shoulder of eastbound I-580 near the Altamont Pass, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses said the vehicle overturned multiple times as it fell and burst into flames at the bottom of a steep ravine next to the highway, CHP Officer Steve Creel said.
