Tracy Teen Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Crashes in Springtown

Two other suspects riding inside a stolen SUV were not found after police search in Springtown.

A 17-year-old girl from Tracy was arrested early Tuesday after she fled from during a stolen-vehicle investigation, Officer Steve Goard said.

Shortly after midnight, an officer spotted a Honda Pilot reported stolen out of Sacramento County in Springtown. The girl was inside the vehicle with two other people, Goard said.

The officer attempted to stop the stolen SUV on a vehicle code violation, but the driver instead fled and failed to stop for police.

The driver ended up crashing into a grass field off of Clydesdale and Bluebell drives after turning into a dead-end road, Goard said.

The three occupants of the vehicle then exited the vehicle and ran into the field.

More officers were called to the scene to assist in the search. In addition, Alameda County Sheriff's Office deputies also helped in the search.

The girl was located in a nearby backyard and was taken in custody on suspicion of resisting arrest. The other two people were not found and remain outstanding, Goard said.

Police do not have more information on the other suspects as the girl is being uncooperative with the investigation, Goard said.

Tuesday's incident is the second stolen-vehicle pursuit reported this week that ended in a crash. On Monday, .

I didn't see any previous comments where people were judging or blaming the parents in this situation.
TheGuru July 04, 2012 at 05:02 PM
Sounds like Livermore is my kind of town!
Stephan July 04, 2012 at 07:21 PM
I live in the neighborhood they ran from the Livermore police in and turned on the scanner when they were all over the neighborhood. They were talking about the assault with the fire extinguisher. I can understand your dilemma, I have family with mental health issues and getting insurance to cover treatment or any other kind of assistance is almost impossible on mental health issues. I hope your family can work through this.

Liver moron, once again you are on here spouting stupidity. Do yourself and all of us a favor and shut the hell up! The police don't want to hide crime from the citizens! The more the citizens see a need for police, the more supportive they'll be during contract discussions. Look at the most recent surveys and city wide discussions. The citizens spoke loud and clear that their number one concern was public safety! Shortly after that came out, the police and city agreed to a new contract with additional officers being hired... You are correct about the drug problem... It's every city, not just Livermore. You were correct about the prostitution, but per news reports (not just the Patch - although I think Kris does a great job of getting true and accurate facts and reporting them appropriately) the police just made arrests in the massage parlor prostitution. Complaining about marijuana grows? Go complain to the Feds, the locals are being laughed at by the courts and basically told they aren't going to enforce marijuana laws. .

Anyways to the Sweat family. I hope your son faces the consequences for his crimes after being captured or surrendering safely. I hope he gets the help he needs. Unfortunately I don't think our judicial system works for that. The crimes you say he has been involved with will send him to prison. There he will just meet similar minded people. I can't imagine having a child who, despite my best efforts, makes these choices for himself. Good luck to your family. Hopefully he gets locked up soon and you can at least take comfort knowing he won't victimize anymore innocent citizens for a while
Heather Sweat July 04, 2012 at 08:02 PM
Thank you TruthTeller. It will be comforting when he us captured. As of now, we know nothing. No whereabouts, no contact, no one had seen him. I always knew this could happen, but never could I prepare for it. There is a drug isdue in every city, however this article is not the appropriate place to express your concern. City council mtgs, open police mtgs, even to the planning commission is the way to go. Police can only do so much. Get your neighbors involved! Talk, have a neighborhood watch. Yes, corny, but I assure you it works. I know by experience.
Fiftyissixty July 04, 2012 at 09:58 PM
Move on. Go forward. Does any of this snide remarking anger help? Maybe I missed something. I hope I did because this becomes so WHY?????
Truth teller July 05, 2012 at 04:07 AM
You say the same things over and over... None of them of the educated type. You call people names and call them offensive words for mentally or physically challenged people. You have no clue about me, my life experience (which I can assure you is way more than yours will probably ever be), my education (which, again, I can assure you is way more than yours will ever be), or the many places I've lived (hint: close to as many states as the number of years old you claim to be). Your analogy ... Where you refer one thing as being similar to the other... Of if the the Mr. Pickles employee that works way harder than you have ever dreamed of working cares about the citizens being anywhere near the same as the police (a political public safety position) caring about the opinions of the citizens is just ridiculous! You're so naive and unintelligent that it's beyond funny to the point of being sad. I feel sorry for you. Try that Library you complain so much about. It's actually very nice. Until then keep telling yourself you're sounding cool behind the keyboard while hugging your blow up doll that you have oddly given the same name as your mother...
damandamyth July 05, 2012 at 04:38 AM
way to go truth!!! this guys an idiot and has no comprehension of the real world. he lives in fantasyland. he's probably unemployed and hides behind a computer all day (that his mom pays for) playing role playing games and trolling the internet.......kris, you gotta do a better job of screening these people
No name July 05, 2012 at 06:16 AM
You sound like a broken record Bla bla bla
Truth teller July 05, 2012 at 02:24 PM
A masters degree, but can't spell learning? Can't use the words woman and women in the correct context? Can't properly punctuate can't.... Hint the little thing in the air between the "n" and the "t" is called an apostrophe..... Yeah, don't think so LIVER MORON. You might be the king of your castle in your dungeons and dragons therapy group, but on here you have to deal with intelligent and educated people. People that can realize when you are unable to address an issue, or discuss a topic. People that realize that because you lack the ability to have a constructive conversation, you just call people names. The difference is your pathetic attempts to hurt people's feelings by calling us names doesn't work here. We don't get upset and lash out like you do. We just state facts. Every once in a while, I choose to point out how much of an embarrassment you are to your mom, but that's just fun for me. But I do enjoy your adult ability to turn straight to the"your momma" jokes or try to say you sleep with my wife comments. Classic. Never had a guy with a "MASTERS" degree go that direction in a conversation. Such a mature route to take. The problem is that everyone else on here realizes that your own blow up doll poked a hole in herself just so you couldn't use her. There's no way a real life woman would give you the time of day.
Sandy July 05, 2012 at 03:25 PM
Liver moron ..... You are just that.... A MORON. If you hate this city so much, MOVE!!!!!!!! What keeps you here? I think the psycho ward misjudged and let you out of your straight jacket and off your meds too soon. You seriously need to be off the streets...... You're embarrassing. Go ahead and post another one of your rants ...... Nobody gives a $&@! anymore. You're a freak show..... Kris, please cut this guy off.
Mr. Pickles July 05, 2012 at 03:26 PM
@Truth teller, Just ignore him. He will go away... I am sure he is sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons as his mom is sceaming at him to clean his room. Kind of pathetic isn't it? He will never move out of Livermore. He won't ever move out of his mother house. He's not man enough to tell us who he really is so why give him the satisfaction of responding to his posts.
Sandra July 05, 2012 at 07:14 PM
Thats just it kids are not getting their butts kicked and if they do they cry child abuse! Not in all cases mind you but some.
Sandra July 05, 2012 at 07:15 PM
Mr & Mrs. Sweat, my heart goes out to you.
More to Come July 05, 2012 at 08:32 PM
I have read most of these comments and really Liver Moron, you are a joke. Thats it, their is nothing more to say about you. So please shut your hole and move out of Livermore. Its people like you like start shit and cannot back anything up. This was about a carjacking and nothing else, I live in Springtown and the police rang our doorbell at 2:30am to look in our backyard. It scared my wife and little boy, it was a long night after that.
Liz Gully July 05, 2012 at 08:55 PM
Truth teller - please stop responding to that moron. Just flag him as inappropriate and move on. If we ignore him, he will go away.
Lynette Jones-Murphy July 06, 2012 at 02:59 AM
To the parents of the young man with mental illness I hope and pray for some peace in your family. I understand what it's like raising a bi-polar child. Our oldest is depressive bi-polar. We had to make a decision last year to sign our rights over to the county or keep fighting. We kept fighting and he is doing great. The laws, instance and services need to change in mental health. It's very sad. We are praying for your family.
Lynette Jones-Murphy July 06, 2012 at 03:00 AM
Oops insurance
Sandy July 06, 2012 at 06:22 AM
Thank you , Kris. Jeeeeeez....... Bi-polar+teenager=difficult. I'm so sorry for those dealing with that combination. Thank you for getting back on topic. I pray those kids find the right path and stay on it....... We are all capable of changing our ways.
tevaris sweat July 06, 2012 at 05:20 PM

Reggie Sweat July 08, 2012 at 01:45 AM
To all that have posted positive words, my wife and I thank you. To the parents of the girl, I am sorry that your daughter had to face the consequences she did for associationing with my son. To Mo, words cannot express the concern I have for your father. It is not something anyone should have to encounter. I am sorry for the behavior of my son. I am sorry that your father had to be subjected to that kind of abuse. My son will pay for his consequences and I pray that we can get the help for him that he needs. My prayers have been with your family from the moment my wife and family heard of the incident. I cannot apologize enough because I am his father and I feel responsible for my son's actions. I do know today that I am not responsible for his choices, he will have to face them on his own. Our prayers stay with your family on a daily. Please stay strong on I pray your father to have a speedy recovery.

Update : My son was arrested on 7/5 in Fremont. Afaik, the other boy is still on the run. Thank you again for your kind words, prayers and support. @Moretocome - I'm sorry that your son was awoke by the police that night. I can imagine how scary that must have been for him.

What was the color of the car that they stole? I believe these teen might have another charge... From a concern parent.
Heather Sweat July 11, 2012 at 10:17 PM
They are facing multiple charges. The girl was arrested and released. My son is sitting in jail where JAMES BYARS should be right now. He's still running, but its a matter of time before the walls start closing in.
katrina byars July 16, 2012 at 04:38 PM
first of all that other boy is my brother, and second of all. heather there is a reason their names are not posted, they are minors. and it should be none of your concern what their names are. so people get a life and stop all the negativety. yes both boys have issues and they need, its just the other boy got caught first. its a matter of time before my brother ends up getting caught and going to jail.
Heather Sweat July 17, 2012 at 06:01 AM
It is very much my concern bc my son will not face charges until your brother is in custody. Both boys will be charged as adults, therefore their names will be given sooner or later. If my son and your brother don't want their names public, they should have never done the crime...
Heather Sweat July 17, 2012 at 05:02 PM
Confirmed: James and Tevaris are both in custody. Sleep better Livermore...
Rachelle July 20, 2012 at 07:28 AM
My brother turned himself in
Rachelle July 20, 2012 at 07:32 AM
They both are wrong shouldnt of done it need help but I do not believe names should of been posted only because minor laws regardless wat they are charged as their age dont change the ppl who needed to know the names knew i am glad both are in.custody and now all this begins I.believe u guys as parents.to.the other boy seem like great parents dont take it personal by me saying names shouldnt.of been mentioned not even.your sons name.
