Tracy Resident Arrested After DUI Collision in Livermore

Sunday night solo-vehicle accident sent a Tracy woman to a hospital for minor injuries. The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Here's information provided by the Livermore Police Department:

On Sunday, at approximately 10:37 p.m., residents in the area of Holmes Street and Concannon Boulevard reported the sound of a car collision. Officers responding to the area found that a Nissan Maxima had been traveling North bound on Holmes Street from Alden Lane when it left the roadway and struck two trees, a sign and a telephone pole along the east sidewalk of Holmes Street.

As a result of the collision, a 23-year-old woman from Tracy was trapped in the front passenger seat of the Nissan. Personnel from the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department had to use the “Jaws of Life” to extract her from the vehicle.  The female was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released for minor injuries.

The driver of the Nissan, Silvestre Benitez Jr. (Date of Birth: March 3, 1993) who resides in Tracy, was arrested for suspicion of felony drunk driving and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

Due to the criminal investigation, Holmes Street between Alden Lane and Concannon Boulevard was closed for about four hours.  No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
