Suspicious Fire at Abandoned Building

Firefighters on Saturday morning extinguished a suspicious blaze at an abandoned building on Isabel Avenue.

Authorities are investigating a suspicious fire at an abandoned building on the 1300 block of Isabel Avenue.

At 7:16 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a structure fire after a passerby reported seeing smoke coming from the building, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Joe Testa said.

When firefighters arrived on scene they discovered a small blaze in one of the back rooms and quickly extinguished the fire.

It appears clothes and debris in the room caught fire, Testa said.

Firefighters are still investigating a cause of the blaze.

The vacant building used to be a flower farm, which closed years ago, Testa said.

An online search shows the building was previously housed by Orchids Orinda.

Saturday's incident was the second fire at an abandoned building in town in a one-month span.
